Trying to Identify Kernel, Possible Overclocking Possibilities for DM7022 Radio

Hi guys. Few days ago i`ve said my ES777 doesn`t reboot if i put switched on pad on the switched on base. I have tested it few more times. Chance of reboot is approx 20%. Yes, mine also reboots sometimes. Not a 50%, but sometimes it does reboot.

It is also strange that it works correct only if both PAD and main unit are switched off before i connect them. If main is off, but pad is on or sleeping, i put it on the main unit and main unit doesn`t work, doesn`t even turn on if i press power button. But it works if both are ON before connecting. However, PAD switches off by main unit only if it was switched on by main unit. Otherwise main unit switches off but PAD doesn`t.

I think unit software is designed for the complete OFF-OFF --> ON-ON --> OFF-OFF operation. Otherwise it may work not as you expected.

Well, you summarized pretty well what I was going to write up on the issue :) It does seem so that if the pad was not turned on or rebooted by the head unit, it will not shut down with the head unit. It also never reboots if connected "properly", i.e. if the pad was on previously and the head unit is also first turned on. But if you take the head unit out, click the power button once to turn off the screen - connect it again (while the head unit staying on all during), it usually reboots.

Anyways, to avoid rebooting, just connect and disconnect the pad always with both units ON.

Today i've got 100% reboot placing my pad on the base (on-on case).

The rooting part is the easiest. Just download Super One Click (SuperOneClick | shortfuse.org) and it's literally just one click to root your device. No experience neccessary. If you are missing some drivers there is even an option to install them directly from the program. This is what I used after trying several times to manually connect to my pad with ADB - even after manually installing new drivers I could not get it working. Super One Click worked like a charm.

Hi Guys,

I couldn't get superoneclick to work (I told you I didn't know much !) but I managed to download z4root & get it to work ! I did a temporary root because I wasn't brave enough to do a permenant one !
The problem is i dont know what to do next ! I presume I'm supposed to either delete or disable some system app's but I dont know which ones ! Any idea's or suggestions will be greatfully received.

Thanks

Mark

BTW wuoma, I like your blog, nice car.

Depends on your use of course, but you should install Titanium Backup first - you can uninstall system applications cleanly via that. I would uninstall Gmail, Email, Dialer, Contacts at least to start with. Of course if you are planning on using the pad as an actual tablet you might want to keep the email/gmail ones.
The permanent root is what you really will need if you want to use a program like Startup Manager where you can specify what services autostart with the pad. The safe way is to first disable all of the ones you think are unneccessary (like gmail, dialer etc) at first and see if everything works. After that you can uninstall them or if something's wrong, you can just enable those services again from Startup Manager.

Thanks for reading the blog, I'll do a larger post on the ES777A pretty soon, unfortunately today was too busy a day and the weekend is already "gone".... So beginning of next week it'll have to be.

Hello guys, i have the chinese software to gain permanent root on es666 and the adb driver also. tested on it twice and confirmed it working. will post the files later and im in the process of getting the rom from dm7033 and seeing if i can make it work with dm7022

Hey did you make any head way with upgrading the dm7022 to the android 2.3 os it would be a lot better I think. Also has anyone been able to make a nandroid backup of the es666 aka dm7022 I think if I could get rom manager to work on the unit I would be braver in trying to upgrade it. These Chinese tablets that are really no name brand are hard to find stuff on.

Hi Guys,

I'm interested in this too, also if anyone used the new 2.1 file posted & if it made any difference ! I have tried to contact manufacturers / distributors of the DM7022 to find out if the DM7033 pad is compatable with the older main unit & how much for the updated pad, but so far have had no response. If anyone here has the info, don't be shy !
Meanwhile im continuing my efforts to master the android system & root my pad & slim down the cpu demand at startup. Thanks to all who have contributed to this very helpful thread .

I flashed the supposedly updated version of 2.1 it didn't seem to do anything for my tablet. As far as the cryogenmod for telechips I saw that before but I didn't know which one to use and it said if the tablet wasn't listed not to do it because it would brick it. It's so much easier to mod my Droid x I just wish I knew of an identical tablet there has got to be one we just need to figure out which one it is.

Hi Guys,

I finally got time to start installing my es7022, so far I've got the main unit in & have starting testing it, I have the same double speed in sat nav mode issue as many others have had, so thats my next job to sort out ! I have rooted the pad & deleted the eonmarket, sound recorder & global time but I will probably have to remove more as I still cant cant get my slingplayer to work smoothly. My emails to the manufacturer & distributor have so far gone unanswered .

Im thankfull for the support & information given to me from this forum if I had been dependent on the manufacturer / distributor I would still be waiting !

Hi Mark, can you give me contacts of the manufacturer? I also want to ask them to provide PAD firmware. I have bought my PAD from ES and, as you know, they are not a manufacturer and they ignore such enquires.

Hi dyn620,

I filled the online form in at this site,

Shenzhen Winmark Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. - car dvd

& sent a email to [email protected] which is the contact email found on this site

Shenzhen Winmark Electronics Technology Co.,Ltd

I hope you have better luck than I did !

Hi Guys,

Ive been reviewing the whole thread in my quest to speed up my DM7022 & get it to run my beloved Slingplayer app smoothly, I came across this by the OP & as a new guy I dont have a clue what the Mali.ko mod is & would be very gratefull for any help.

My attempts to contact the manufacturer & distributors have fallen on deaf ears, so I still dont have a definate answer to if a DM7033 pad can be used instead & if it can how much it will cost.

I'm enjoying the DM7022 but am finding it a bit frustrating at times, but also Im learning about android so I suppose thats a good thing !

This thread & forum have been my only help in this & for that help I'm very glad !

Mark

PS thanks to Murzzz for the link, its interesting stuff !

I already did the Mali.ko mod and it worked great for Angry Birds, but mostly Slacker Radio stutters and loads real slow, so hoping to get it faster a bit.

Thanks for any help you may have!
