Kinpad I600 7" Capacitive, Phone 3G GPS Wifi HDMI 2.2

...when I put my kinpad FLAT on a table, the "pinch and zoom" isn't working correctly. As soon as I touch the metal part of the the frame, it's WORKING again. Check it out:

Is that just MY kinpad or is anybody else having this problem?

Works with me whether I'm touching the frame or not.

The strange thing is, as soon as I pick it up, EVEN WITHOUT touching the metal part, it works. It just won't work properly when it's flat on a table?!?

Thats not strange....the accelerometer is centered flat so the electronics calculate that the device has been set down and needs to prepare for idle power. There are also other functions while lying flat, one use I know of is to calibrate the accelerometer. The device is functioning to the designers intent to idle while laying flat. If other units arent performing in this way the explination could be the model rev. I have not been able to duplicate this but my tablet differs from yours 1: software 2: hardware could be different.

The accelerometer locked up on me today, even with latest and greatest firmware update. Even after reseting it via the software switch. Then I tried the hardware lock switch,,,,,still locked up. I had to reboot and all was back to normal.

Hey,

I just read on the Androidtablets.net in the announcement of the new HAIPAD that

"The iMX515 platform is not rumored to see an Android 3.0 Honeycomb update in the future, but an upgrade to Android 2.3 is possible considering that source codes are available from Freescale. "

Any thoughts.

It would be very nice if the kinpad got the HC OS I havent keep up with any other tablets, but from my knowledge Google will not release HC right now to anyone but Motorola and Im very sure that has to do with whichever provider is contracted to sell Motorola HC products. 2.2 was just released not very long ago, Im not going to get my hopes up, Its a pleasent wish though. Most of the products promising the HC platform are using the tegra 2. So if your planning on running HC from what Ive read the tegra 2 is the way to go.

Thanks for the feedback :)

I tested it with Launcher Pro running and it scored at approx. 800!!! WAY TOO LOW!!! I just tested it again with the original UI running and it scored in the 1400es, that's more like it :)

Original user interface.......yuck!!!! I hate it. 1400's still not real good for the price. Ive seen tiny phones get better performance. This kinpad needs major updates.

I own a Malata Tegra2 ZPad and in comparison the kinpad isn't a speed demon but I didn't expect it to be (which explains the ZPad). It was meant for portability and to compliment my company issued Blackberry. I just spent a week touring around NYC with the Kinpad and it was great. Nice and compact but big enough to be an enjoyable experience. Now if I could get a proper case and screen protector that would be great.

I'd like to see the developers enable o/c'ing in the kernel.

I'm still wondering why there appears to be constant delivery delays. By this time I would have expected to see the market flooded with kinpads. They're missing their window of opportunity.

You hit the nail on the head because if you look on alibaba lately there seems to be a dozen more pads with phone feature flooding the chinese marketplace. It seems that a person has to dig and dig and wait and dig a little more to get ahold on one of these kinpads. Alot of people just dont have the patients to deal with that. And the pad isnt branded so its a name it yourself resale item. The kinpad is very high quality item for chinese buy, and very pleasing to the eye.

Looking at the numbers reviewing this thread I think there are a number of reasons why the kinpad's not selling and the number one reason is branding, plus as eprom rightly points out, this is not helped by the fact there's a distinct lack of clear, definitive information on it.

I took a punt on the device and on the whole I have been pleasantly surprised, but this will almost certainly be my last experience of trying to deal with a chinese outfit.

Finally the galaxy S Tab itself is rumoured to be dropping in price and will the kinpad be able to compete with this?
